Campfire follow you home?

Smoke odors can linger in clothing for weeks or even months if they aren’t treated promptly. To remove the smell, wash smoky clothes as soon as possible using the hottest water that’s safe for the fabric. Adding a cup of white vinegar or half a cup of baking soda to the wash can help neutralize odors, while heavily affected items may benefit from an overnight soak in a baking soda solution or a bio-enzymatic odor treatment before laundering. If you can’t wash clothes right away, store them in an airtight container to keep the odor from spreading.

After washing, air-dry clothing outdoors in direct sunlight whenever possible, as fresh air and sunlight help eliminate lingering smoke odors. If using a dryer, choose a low-heat setting and remove clothes promptly when the cycle ends to prevent odors from becoming trapped in the fabric. Regular washing after smoke exposure helps prevent odors from becoming permanently embedded in clothing fibers.
